Create Your Mission Statement

Defining a mission statement for both your personal and professional brand is essential for any individual or organization to clarify its purpose, values, and goals. Here are some steps to help you create your own mission statement:

  1. Define your core values: Before crafting your mission statement, you need to identify your core values. These are the guiding principles that drive your actions and decisions. Start by brainstorming a list of values important to you or your organization, such as honesty, integrity, teamwork, or innovation.

  2. Identify your purpose: Next, think about why you exist or what you want to achieve. What problems do you want to solve? What kind of impact do you want to make? This will help you identify your purpose or your "why."

  3. Consider your audience: Your mission statement should be relevant to your target audience. Who are you serving? What do they care about? Ensure your mission statement resonates with them and communicates how you can help them.

  4. Craft a concise statement: Once you have a clear understanding of your values, purpose, and audience, it's time to craft your mission statement. Keep it concise and easy to remember. Ideally, it should be no more than a sentence or two. Use clear and straightforward language, and avoid jargon or buzzwords.

  5. Refine and revise: Don't expect to get your mission statement perfect on the first try. Refining and revising it over time is essential as you gain more clarity and experience. Please share it with others and get feedback to ensure that it accurately reflects your values and purpose.

Remember, your mission statement should clearly and concisely communicate your purpose and values to your target audience. It should serve as a guidepost for your actions and decisions and help you focus on your goals.

Consciously & Ethically Designed

About the Book

"Conscious design is a philosophy used at the Peterman Design Firm. We use it to create brands and products that restore and sustain our planet. The Peterman Method for conscious design is the culmination of Ian’s 15+ years working in product development and Jessica’s 20 years in working as a healer and studying regenerative technologies and tools for both people and our planet. Together, we’ve written this book to lay out a culmination of our combined experiences. Our goal is to help other people start looking at the world, and design, in a more conscious way."
